Seventeen trainers from public libraries in Namibia will attend a three-day workshop on e-resources and internet search skills organized by EIFL and the Namibia Library and Archives Service (NLAS).

The training will take place at the National Library of Namibia in Windhoek. The trainers are Raymond Chepkwony from Kenya National Library Service / Nairobi Area Public Library in Kenya and EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme Capacity Building Manager Susan Schnuer.

The 17 trainees have been selected by NLAS to become trainers within the NLAS network of 65 public libraries. They will learn skills and techniques for using search engines like Google Scholar; researching open access repositories; finding relevant open educational resources, and researching databases of organizations like the African Union, the World Bank and the United Nations. In addition, they will learn training skills to enable them to pass on their internet search and e-resources knowledge and skills to other librarians.

The workshop is part of a major initiative that will build a corps of trainers within the NLAS network of 65 public libraries. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen continued professional development of public librarians in Namibia.
