Public librarians from 11 public libraries in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will take part in advanced information and communications technology (ICT) training organized by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) in collaboration with the Consortium of Ethiopian Academic and Research Libraries (CEARL). The training will take place in Addis Ababa University Library Cloud Computing Centre.

The five-day course completes a four-module training programme developed by EIFL-PLIP to meet skills needs of public libraries in Ethiopia. During three previous workshops, the same group of librarians learnt basic computer skills, how to plan new services, and communication and advocacy skills.

EIFL-PLIP Manager, Ramune Petuchovaite, will attend the training, meet with EIFL partners and visit participating libraries to cement partnerships and discuss further training needs.

The EIFL capacity building programme in Ethiopia was launched in 2015 in partnership with Addis Ababa Culture and Tourism Bureau, which supervises libraries in the city, to foster development of innovative, technology-based public library services.
