EIFL will organize a webinar to launch a new EIFL provision on Secondary Publication Rights (SPR). SPR gives authors (or their institutions) the legal right to make a work openly available after, or in parallel to, publication of a formal version of the work even in the absence of an open access publishing agreement, and even if the work is published behind a paywall.
Since SPR can be found in a range of laws (such as science, technology & innovation, economics, culture and copyright) in a growing number of countries in Europe, we decided it was timely to add a right of secondary publication to EIFL’s Draft Law on Copyright (Including Model Exceptions & Limitations for Libraries and their Users) widely consulted by librarians, policy-makers and copyright officials when copyright laws are being updated.
Join members of the expert group that drafted the EIFL SPR provision - Jonathan Band J.D., Faith Majekolagbe, Faculty of Law, University of Alberta and Iryna Kuchma, EIFL-OA Programme Manager - to learn about the objectives of the provision and its practical effect, as well as the benefits of SPR for authors. The 45 minute webinar will be chaired by Teresa Hackett, EIFL Copyright and Libraries Programme Manager.
All are welcome to the webinar. We especially encourage librarians in EIFL partner countries to attend.
