Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, has joined the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Skills and Training Working Group as a Rapporteur.
The EOSC arises out of the European Commission’s aim to promote access to and reuse of research data generated by publicly funded research. The EOSC will offer services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data to 1.7 million European researchers and 70 million professionals in science, technology, the humanities and social sciences, via an EOSC Portal. It brings together existing scientific data infrastructures that are currently dispersed across disciplines and EU member states.
The Skills and Training Working Group will build skills and training capacity for the EOSC.
The Working Group will consult with publicly funded research initiatives, including projects funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, to agree on key components for skills development and training, to determine how these can be embedded in different levels of the EOSC (institutional, national, European Union), and identify what structures are needed to ensure the success of the EOSC. The first meeting of the Working Group took place in Brussels, Belgium, on 26 February.
