Twenty-four public librarians from 12 public libraries in Zambia will attend training in ‘Social Learning Circles for Online Learners’.
‘Learning Circles’ are lightly-facilitated in-person study groups which help improve course retention and pass rates of online learners. The Zambian public librarians will learn how to organize and facilitate ‘Learning Circles’ in their libraries. The training will be led by experienced facilitators from Kenya, where ‘Learning Circles’ have been successfully implemented since 2016.
The training is a part of a national initiative being implemented by EIFL and the Library and Information Association of Zambia (LIAZ) that will build skills of public librarians in Zambia to enable them to initiate new public library services that use technology to meet community needs.
