ABOUT THE RESOURCE
In this video (10 minutes), Ugne Lipeikaite, Impact Manager of the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP), shares practical tips on how public library trainers can adapt Open Educational Resources (OERs) to meet learners' needs and make them more relevant for training in their communities.
The video:
- Explains what Open Educational Resources (OERs) are, why they are valuable for public libraries, and how Creative Commons licences allow trainers to legally use, share and adapt them;
- Presents practical strategies for adapting OERs, including meeting learners' needs; localizing examples and activities, and modifying materials to suit different training contexts (e.g. available technology; internet connectivity; group size);
- Presents a real-life example from Ghana, where an OER on the topic of digital literacy was successfully adapted for Junior High School students by incorporating local examples, images, and practical activities.
