Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, will give a keynote speech at the international conference, ‘Science ouverte au Sud. Enjeux et perspectives pour une nouvelle dynamique’ (‘Open Science in the South. Issues and Perspectives for a new dynamic’).
Kuchma's keynote is titled 'Open Science in the South: Celebrating successes and the way forward'. She will, discuss EIFL's work and highlight recent open science policy developments in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda. In addition, Kuchma will co-facilitate a workshop on open access repositories, and participate in a panel titled, 'Open science movement - state of play and policies'.
The conference is aimed at researchers, research information managers and representatives of research institutions and organizations in charge of research policy. The focus of the conference is research issues in the French-speaking countries of the Global South. It is jointly organized by IRD (the French Research Institute for Development), CIRAD (Agricultural Research for Development) and Cheikh Anta Diop University. Kuchma is a member of the conference Scientific Committee.
The conference is one of thousands of events taking place worldwide to celebrate Open Access Week 2019 (21 - 27 October).
