The 28th session of the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) moved on to the agenda item on limitations and exceptions for education and persons with other disabilities, when it had finished discussion on libraries and archives.

EIFL made an intervention concerning persons with other disabilities (meaning other than those that affect blind, visually impaired and print disabled people), for example, people who are deaf.

In its statement, EIFL called on Member States to make a recommendation to the WIPO General Assemblies that the provisions of the Marrakesh Treaty for blind, visually impaired and otherwise print disabled persons apply equally to persons with other disabilities so that the equal treatment is granted to all persons regardless of their disability.

The WIPO Secretariat then provided an update on plans for a scoping study on the intersection between copyright law and other disabilities.
