Kyrgyz Libraries Consortium, Kyrgyzstan (KLIC) set up tuberculosis (TB) information corners in 190 libraries and trained over 800 ‘No to TB!’ campaigners – teachers, pupils, parents, social workers, journalists and librarians. The campaigners reached thousands of people, and in less than a year (2011/12), the service demonstrated the power of a public library network in supporting a major national government health campaign.
The service was started with support from the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) in 2011. This two-page case study is based on impact assessment conducted by the library.
