ABOUT THE RESOURCE
Two-page case study about how the library worked with partners to develop the educational game, Iššūkis (the Challenge), to encourage children who were avoiding school to reconnect with the school system. The game engages the children in tasks related to the school curriculum. The game is offered through 25 public libraries in villages and towns. In just six months, 1,132 children from 13 schools registered to play. Teachers reported that school attendance increased, and that children who used to get poor results were doing better.
The project was initiated with support from the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) in 2010. The case study is based on impact assessment conducted by the library.
