We are delighted to name the winners of the 10th EIFL Public Library Innovation Award, for Public library services improving people’s lives.

The four winning libraries, in Africa, Europe and Latin America, improve lives in their communities by addressing development issues included in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Congratulations to –

• ‘Peyo Yavorov’ Regional Library in Bourgas, Bulgaria, whose environmental education campaign has inspired hundreds of children to collect plastic waste for recycling.

• Kankuaka Public Library in Colombia, for raising children’s awareness about the need to protect their mountain ecosystem.

• KNLS Thika Public Library in Kenya, for their tablet computer education outreach service for children who cannot come to the library.

• Central City Library ‘M. Lermontov’ in Melitopol, Ukraine, for successfully engaging citizens in a major urban development initiative.

Each winner receives a prize of US$1,500, a certificate and a trophy. Awards will be presented at international library events.

The EIFL Public Library Innovation Awards recognize innovative library services that use ICT to improve lives and livelihoods. The awards are open to all public and community libraries in developing and transition countries.
